After conducting a recent survey asking, “Will working from home be important in 2022?”, 100% of responses indicated it would be.  This included responses from Directors, Students, Accountants, CEOs and general staff. The obvious question that is unanswered here is “Why will working from home be important?”.

Perhaps the answers to that question including:

• COVID Risk Management – Minimising the number of staff who may need to isolate at any one time.
• COVID Response – Providing staff the opportunity to work from home whilst isolating.
• Staff Expectations – It has been shown that staff can work from home and now they expect it.
• Recruitment Benefit – Working from home will be seen as a genuine benefit when recruiting staff.
• Expense Saving – Less staff on premises means office space can be reduced or redeployed to provide staff additional services.

What ever the reason, it would seem clear that working from will continue to be a need for the future.

Here are some simple things to keep in mind about working from home:

• Use the software that supports working from home.
• Consider if staff have adequate internet at home.
• Ensure staff have any special equipment needed to perform their role.
• Confirm the home environment both suitable and safe.
• Engaging staff who are working from home is different than when they are at the office.
