For many people who have been using Microsoft Office for a number of decades, there is often a misconception that Microsoft 365 is a “never-ending way of paying form Word, Excel and Outlook”.  We would like to take the time to debunk this misunderstanding.

So what is Microsoft 365?

Microsoft 365 brings together a range of applications and functions which can provide a wide range business and productivity improvements.  These tools include the well known (and already mentioned):

Microsoft 365 brings together a range of applications and functions which can provide a wide range business and productivity improvements.  These tools include the well known (and already mentioned):

  • Outlook
  • Word
  • Excel

Additional to these, there is also:

  • Exchange
  • Teams
  • Bookings
  • SharePoint
  • PowerAutomate
  • Planner
  • Forms
  • OneDrive
  • Web version of Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Yammer
  • Lists
  • Stream
  • To Do

NOTE: the make up of these apps will depend on your actual subscription.  Start here for more information.

The bigger question is How can I use these? Here are a few thoughts:

  • Use Lists, PowerAutomate and Forms to automate your Complaints and Breach Management
  • Use Bookings to automate client bookings and add them to staff calendars
  • Use Teams and SharePoint to support remote working
  • Use Planner to create and manage project teams and tasks
  • Use SharePoint Documents to share files with customers and suppliers (See how here)
  • Use SharePoint Documents to co-author documents and presentations (See more here)
  • Use Lists and PowerAutomate to manage office tasks and staff leave
  • Use Lists to manage HR functions such as Onboarding new staff (See more here)
  • Use Teams, SharePoint and PoweBI to create a management hub with all critical information

What about my existing technology environment?

There are also benefits here to be considered:

  • Exchange “in the cloud” means emails are available even if your office internet goes down
  • Mailboxes can be 50GB, recommended mailboxes for on premises is around 5GB
  • SharePoint can provide an alternative to on premised file servers
